County Coordinator My name is Joe Markovich. I am the coordinator for the ILGenWeb Vermilion county web site. To volunteer to host an Illinois county, please visit the adoptable county page and then contact the appropriate regional coordinator . The Vermilion county site is among 5 other Illinois county sites in which I am the coordinator. The map on the left shows the county locations within the state and the proximity to each other. Vermilion county is shown in green, located in the Eastern and central part of the state. Vermilion county is unique since there is a "sister" county by the same name (slightly different spelling) immediately adjacent that is in Indiana. The names are different by only one "L" in order to tell them part. |

Sub-topics are accessible by clicking on any topic that has a + sign next to it. Alternately, each page of this web site contains a navigation box on the bottom. How the ILGenWeb Started
In June, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more that one county, they could be located in the index. At the same time, some volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. Eventually, this was expanded to all states and all counties across the US.

I am unable to do your personal research. I do not live in Vermilion County or in Illinois and I do not have access to additional records. If you do not see the information you are seeking in this site, I do not have it as everything I have is posted in this site.
